His name is Moaticus. He is a resident of Lau, a small town bordering the western shores of Godendar. Lau is nothing more than a port. The tides never change, and all the houses are black with the ash that is flung into the sky from the eastern mines and volcanic eruptions. Residents of Lau rarely commune with one another. Most of the beings that stop at Lau are sailors passing inland for minerals. Others are just merchants. Moaticus has no profession, though his largest skill lies in thievery. Lau smells of brine and sweat. Cargo is usually for orcs due to good amount of pay received when doing business with them. Warships stop in Lau to restock rarely. Lau’s wealth is measured by the amount of traders that are in the city at any one time.
Moaticus was once a soldier in the Godendarian army, but vanished from the ranks, having been thought slain by rogues from the north. He spent a great deal of time undercover after reaching an older age, due to his dark skin. He ran several spy-related missions in Eurothra, and has gained a partial dislike to the gray city because of his various negative visits there. Reports had thought him dead after his defect. A grave stone still sits in Lau. Ironically, he defected from the army to live in Lau, and was somehow never found. He is not generally a follower of the wickedness. He looks to the moon as a light source more than a magical guide. Before Lau was even a city, Moaticus came into Everhath via a mid-world port near Eurothra. He lived in this port for a long time as a child. The light of Dyphreties prevented his drowish skin from darkening much during that time. He traveled southward from there when he became an adult. Because security was thinner at each inward gate, the land of Godendar seemed like the simplest path. Eurothra’s trust lies with the north more than the south, and it is therefore easer to go south than it is to go north. He found Lau to be a quiet and rather rich town, despite its small size.
